Windsor's Downtown Parade Kicks Off the Celebrations

The Canada Day Parade in Windsor will feature more than 60 floats, performers, and community organizations. The parade route begins at Ouellette Avenue and Giles Boulevard and ends at Ouellette and Pitts streets. Fan zones, firecracker Timbits, and entertainment will line the route, with festivities starting at 11 a.m.

Arts Fair and Community Celebrations

For creative types, the Canada Day Arts Fair runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on University Avenue between Pelissier Street and Freedom Way. Additionally, the Baitul Ehsan Mosque is hosting a Canada Day birthday celebration with a free barbecue and family activities.

Amherstburg: Run, History, and Heritage

Amherstburg offers a five-kilometre run/walk/wheel and kids dash starting at 9 a.m. at 100 Laird Ave., in front of Fort Malden Historic Park. History enthusiasts can visit Fort Malden (10 a.m.-5 p.m.) or the Park House Museum (10 a.m.-4 p.m.) at 214 Dalhousie St.

Tecumseh's Backyard Party

Tecumseh is hosting a Family Picnic and Concert in the Park at Lakewood Park North (13451 Riverside Dr. E.) from noon to 2 p.m., featuring food trucks and live music by Commonwealth Rocks: Canadian Gold Rush and British Beat 66. Family-friendly activities at McAuliffe Park (2391 St Alphonse St.) run from 1-4 p.m. with children's entertainment and games; a bike valet will be available to ease traffic congestion.

Lakeshore's New Park and Fireworks

Lakeshore's celebration takes place at Stoney Point Community Park, 880 Comber Sideroad. The new $4.9-million park will officially open on Canada Day. Events begin at 11 a.m. with a pickleball and basketball skills competition, followed by a parade at 4:30 p.m. Fireworks are scheduled for 10 p.m.

Kingsville, LaSalle, Leamington, and Essex Events

Kingsville holds a free family-friendly event with fireworks at the arena at 1741 Jasperson Dr., starting at 4 p.m. LaSalle offers a high-energy evening with family activities, live music, and food at the Event Centre and Landing at 970 Front Road, starting at 5 p.m., ending with fireworks. In Leamington, residents can gather at the Sunset Amphitheatre at Seacliff Park for free live music starting at 7:30 p.m. with Big Shiny Toons, a 1990s alternative tribute band, followed by fireworks at 10 p.m. The Essex Recreation Centre remains open on July 1 from 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
