According to Longueuil police spokesperson Jacqueline Pierre, the fire ignited under the building's balcony shortly before 11 p.m. Fire crews responded and, while extinguishing the flames, made the tragic discovery of an inanimate body inside the structure.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Police have not yet established the identity of the deceased, Pierre confirmed.
