Barrie Police Arrest Same Man Twice Within 24 Hours

Barrie police arrested the same 34-year-old man twice within 24 hours, according to a news release issued Monday. The first arrest occurred Sunday afternoon when officers responded to a theft call at a local store. The man was charged with theft under $5,000 and later released on an undertaking with conditions.

Second Arrest for Bail Violation

Just hours later, police spotted the man in a prohibited area, leading to his second arrest for failing to comply with his release conditions. He now faces an additional charge of breach of undertaking.

“This individual was given an opportunity to follow the conditions of his release but chose to ignore them,” said Barrie Police Service in a statement. “Our officers acted quickly to ensure public safety.”

Charges and Court Appearance

The man is scheduled to appear in a Barrie court on Monday to answer to both charges. Police have not released his name to protect the integrity of the investigation.

The incident highlights ongoing challenges with repeat offenders and bail compliance in the region. Barrie police continue to monitor individuals released on conditions to prevent further criminal activity.
