A 72-year-old woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries after being struck by a pickup truck on Quinpool Road in Halifax on Tuesday afternoon, according to Halifax Regional Police.
Incident details
Police responded to the collision at approximately 2:30 p.m. on July 7, 2026, near the intersection of Quinpool Road and Preston Street. The pedestrian, a senior from Halifax, was crossing the road when she was hit by a northbound pickup truck. She was transported to the QEII Health Sciences Centre with life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the truck, a 45-year-old man, remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators. Police have not laid any charges at this time, and the investigation is ongoing.
Road closures and traffic impact
Quinpool Road was closed between Preston Street and Vernon Street for several hours as collision analysts examined the scene. Traffic was diverted, causing delays in the area. The road has since reopened.
