Ottawa police have charged two teenagers in connection with a double stabbing that occurred at Mooney's Bay Park on May 31, 2026. The incident left two individuals injured and prompted a swift investigation by authorities.
Details of the Incident
The stabbing took place in the late afternoon at the popular park located along the Rideau River. Emergency services responded to reports of an altercation and found two victims with stab wounds. Both were transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.
Witnesses reported seeing a group of youths involved in a confrontation before the violence erupted. Police did not disclose the motive but confirmed the suspects were known to the victims.
Charges and Court Appearance
The two teenagers, whose identities are protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, were arrested on June 24, 2026. They face charges including aggravated assault and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. Both appeared in court on June 25 and were released under conditions, including a ban on contacting the victims and a curfew.
“We take incidents of violence in our parks very seriously,” said Ottawa Police Service spokesperson Const. Amy Gagnon in a statement. “Our officers worked diligently to identify and apprehend those responsible.”

Mooney's Bay Park is a family-friendly area with a beach, playground, and sports fields. The stabbing has raised concerns among residents about youth violence in public spaces. Community leaders have called for increased patrols and youth engagement programs.
