Two Homicides Investigated in Mississauga and Toronto

Police in the Greater Toronto Area are probing two separate homicides that occurred within hours of each other this weekend, one in Mississauga and another in downtown Toronto.

Malton Shooting Claims a Life

Peel Regional Police launched a homicide investigation after a fatal shooting in the Malton neighbourhood of Mississauga on Friday night. Officers responded to reports of a shooting near the intersection of Goreway Drive and Morning Star Drive shortly before 10:00 p.m. on December 19, 2025.

Upon arrival, police located a male victim suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite emergency efforts, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Homicide detectives have assumed control of the investigation.

A police spokesperson at the scene indicated the shooting appeared to be an "isolated incident" and stated there were no immediate concerns for public safety. Investigators remained in the area canvassing for witnesses and evidence. "They’re knocking on people’s doors, looking for anybody who may have any witness information," the spokesperson said.

As of Saturday, police had not released the victim's identity, a suspect description, or a possible motive for the shooting.

Fatal Discovery in King West Village

In a separate and unrelated incident, Toronto Police Service announced a homicide investigation in the city's vibrant King West Village neighbourhood. Police were called to a residence near Strachan Avenue and Wellington Street West at approximately 6:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 20.

Inside the residence, officers discovered a deceased individual. The death was quickly classified as a homicide, prompting the Toronto Police Homicide Unit to take over the case.

Authorities have not disclosed the gender of the deceased person and are withholding further details as the investigation is in its early stages. The area is known for its condominiums and nightlife, making the discovery particularly alarming for local residents.

Appeal for Information

Both police forces are urging anyone with information related to either incident to come forward. Peel Regional Police and Toronto Police have dedicated tip lines for their respective homicide units.

The back-to-back violent deaths have cast a shadow over the weekend in the GTA, highlighting ongoing concerns about gun crime and violence in urban centres. The investigations remain active and ongoing as detectives work to piece together the events leading to both tragedies.
