Two Suspects Apprehended Following Dangerous Confrontation with RCMP in Eastern Alberta
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police have announced the arrest of two individuals following a series of aggressive incidents that resulted in two police cruisers being deliberately rammed in eastern Alberta. The altercation, which unfolded in the County of Vermilion River, has led to multiple serious charges against the suspects involved.
Escalating Situation at Rural Oil Site
According to official statements released by Alberta RCMP, officers responded to reports of an abandoned vehicle at an oil site along Township Road 492 in Kitscoty shortly before 4 p.m. on January 15, 2026. Upon arrival at the location, law enforcement personnel discovered a grey sedan and a black pickup truck lacking proper license plates.
The situation quickly escalated when the driver of the black pickup truck, identified as a female suspect, intentionally collided with a stationary police vehicle occupied by an officer. Following this initial confrontation, both suspects entered the grey sedan and attempted to flee the scene, only to become immobilized in deep snow.
Property Break-In and Additional Vehicle Theft
After abandoning their stuck vehicle, the suspects proceeded to break into the garage of a nearby rural property, where they stole a white SUV. In a further act of aggression, the individuals crashed the stolen vehicle into a second responding police cruiser while reversing out of the garage structure.
Police reports indicate the suspects nearly collided with a third police vehicle while attempting to turn north onto Range Road 14 before their stolen SUV became stuck in deep snow. Following a brief foot pursuit involving the male suspect, both individuals were successfully apprehended at the scene by responding officers.
Charges and Officer Injuries
The arrested individuals have been identified as Greg Michael Wilson, 34, of Mannville, Alberta, and Keisha Raj Sharp, 29, of Waseca, Saskatchewan. Both face multiple charges including two counts of assault on a police officer, possession of property obtained by crime, break and enter into a residence, and theft of a motor vehicle.
Investigations revealed that both suspects had breached several conditions of their initial release orders prior to this incident. The officers involved in both ramming incidents sustained non-life-threatening injuries and received medical treatment at a hospital before being released.
Growing Trend of Violence Against Police
Corporal Trevor Schmidt of Alberta RCMP Traffic emphasized that "the quick response of multiple RCMP units was instrumental in the swift apprehension of these suspects." The incident highlights a concerning pattern of increasing violence against law enforcement personnel in Alberta.
According to RCMP statistics, there have been six police vehicles intentionally struck by other vehicles in 2026 alone, following 15 reported incidents in 2024 and seven in 2023. This disturbing trend underscores the growing risks faced by police officers during routine operations across the province.
The RCMP continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding this incident while emphasizing the importance of public cooperation in maintaining community safety and supporting law enforcement efforts throughout Alberta.
