Authorities in Windsor are treating a significant fire at a Ford City construction site as suspicious, launching an investigation into the early morning blaze that resulted in substantial damage.

Fire Erupts in the Early Hours

Windsor police officers were dispatched to the 1700 block of Cadillac Street shortly before 2 a.m. on November 4. The call was for a fire at a residential construction site. Upon arrival, officers found that the Windsor Fire Department had already successfully extinguished the flames.

Skid Steer Destroyed in Blaze

In an update released on social media the following Friday afternoon, police revealed that their initial investigation determined a skid steer had been the piece of equipment that caught fire. The circumstances surrounding the ignition prompted investigators to deem the fire suspicious. The incident caused an estimated $30,000 in damage to the construction equipment. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

Police Appeal for Public Assistance

The Windsor Police Service Arson Unit is now actively investigating the case and is turning to the public for help. Investigators are appealing to residents and business owners in the area to review their surveillance or dashcam footage. They are specifically interested in video recorded between 12 p.m. on November 3 and 1:30 a.m. on November 4 that may contain evidence related to the fire.
