Suspect Wanted in Two Ontario Homicides

Police in Ontario are searching for a man wanted in connection with two separate homicides in different cities, warning the public he should be considered armed and dangerous.

Oshawa Stabbing Leads to Homicide Charge

Durham Regional Police are investigating a fatal stabbing that occurred in Oshawa in the early hours of Tuesday, December 24, 2025. Officers responded to a call around 4:15 a.m. in the area of Park Road South and John Street after a man was found on the roadway with stab wounds.

The victim, identified as Jeremy Russell, 44, was transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre in life-threatening condition, where he later died. This marks the ninth homicide in Durham Region this year.

Investigators have charged Nicholas Robbins, 33, of Oshawa, with second-degree murder. They have also issued a warrant for Michael Waterman, 44, of Peterborough, for the same charge in connection with Russell's death. Police confirmed that all three men were known to each other.

Connection to Earlier Peterborough Murder

The search for Waterman intensifies as he is also wanted by Peterborough Police for a homicide that occurred earlier in the month. On Friday, December 6, 2025, around 6 a.m., police were called to an apartment building at 212 Brock Street in Peterborough.

They found a 33-year-old man with severe head injuries inside an apartment. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Peterborough Police have named Waterman as one of three suspects and want him for second-degree murder.

In relation to the Peterborough case, police have already made several arrests. On December 18, officers executed a warrant at a residence in Belleville and arrested Peter Pople, 28, of Peterborough, charging him with second-degree murder.

Also on December 18, a third suspect, Kaya Coughlin, 29, of Peterborough, was located and arrested at the Trinity Community Centre in Peterborough. She faces a charge of manslaughter.

A fourth individual, Dominick Rivers, 32, of Peterborough, was arrested and charged with accessory after the fact to murder, failure to comply with probation, and six counts of operation while prohibited.

Public Warning and Appeal for Information

Durham Regional Police have issued a stark warning to the public regarding Michael Waterman. They state he should be considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached. Anyone who sees him is urged to immediately call 911.

Investigators are also directly urging Waterman to contact a lawyer and turn himself in to police. They warn that anyone found to be assisting him to evade capture will face prosecution.
