Richmond Hill Home Targeted in Second Drive-By Shooting in Months
Richmond Hill home hit by second drive-by shooting

For the second time in a matter of months, a residence in Richmond Hill, Ontario, has been struck by gunfire in a brazen early-morning drive-by shooting. Authorities confirm no one was inside the home at the time and there were no injuries.

Second Attack on Bryson Drive Home

York Regional Police officers rushed to a home on Bryson Drive, located southeast of Bathurst Street and Carriville Road, just before 5 a.m. on Wednesday, January 7, 2026. The response was triggered by reports of a drive-by shooting. Upon arrival, police found evidence confirming the home had been targeted.

Duty Inspector Peter Cheung addressed reporters at the scene, revealing this was not the first incident at this address. "We previously responded to a shooting at the same house in November," Cheung stated. He noted that, similarly, no one was hurt in the earlier attack and that investigation remains ongoing.

Property Damage and Ongoing Investigation

While no physical injuries were reported, the home sustained significant property damage. As daylight broke, multiple bullet holes were visible in the windows of the house. A vehicle parked in the driveway was also damaged. Investigators are working to determine if all the visible damage resulted from Wednesday's event or if some traces remain from the November shooting.

Inspector Cheung emphasized that the latest incident is believed to be "targeted" and assured the public there is "no immediate threat to the public." When questioned about a potential link between the two shootings, Cheung said investigators will be "looking at all possibilities" to establish any connection.

A Pattern of Violence in York Region

This incident is part of a concerning trend of residential properties being shot at within York Region. In September and October of last year, at least five other houses were targeted in seven separate shootings in the neighbouring city of Vaughan. Police have previously indicated that at least one of those shooting sprees was connected to conflicts within the towing industry.

The investigation into both shootings on Bryson Drive is active. York Regional Police are appealing to anyone with information, including potential video footage from home security systems or dashcams in the area around 5 a.m. on Wednesday, to come forward and assist their efforts.
