Separate Gunfire Incident in Scarborough
In a unrelated event, Toronto Police Service officers opened an investigation after shots were fired at a vehicle in Scarborough. The incident occurred earlier on Sunday.
Police reported that a motorist driving in the Warden Avenue and Ellesmere Road area informed them that an occupant of another vehicle opened fire at approximately 7:10 p.m.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the Scarborough incident. However, police confirmed that damage to the victim's vehicle was consistent with gunfire. Investigators are currently searching for a silver SUV in connection with this case.
Ongoing Investigations and Community Impact
Both police forces have not released further details regarding potential suspects or motives in either case. The investigations are in their early stages.
These back-to-back incidents in the GTA highlight ongoing concerns about gun violence and public safety. Residents in the affected areas are likely to notice continued police activity as officers gather evidence and seek information.
Authorities are asking anyone with information, dashcam footage, or security video related to either the Oshawa shooting or the Scarborough gunfire to contact them immediately.
