OPP Seeks Hit-and-Run Driver and E-Bike Thief in Tecumseh

OPP Launches Dual Investigations in Tecumseh, Appeals for Public Assistance

The Tecumseh Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is actively investigating two distinct incidents and has issued a public appeal for information to help identify those responsible.

Hit-and-Run Incident on E.C. Row Expressway Off-Ramp

Officers are probing a hit-and-run collision that occurred on Saturday morning between 7:30 and 8:30 a.m. The incident took place on the westbound off-ramp of the E.C. Row Expressway at Matchette Road. According to police reports, an unidentified pickup truck struck and completely knocked down a light pole before fleeing the scene.

Investigators believe the vehicle most likely proceeded to Matchette Road and traveled either north or south following the collision. The make and model of the truck remain unknown at this time, complicating the search for the driver who failed to remain at the site as required by law.

Separate E-Bike Theft on Manning Road

In an unrelated case, the OPP is also investigating the theft of an electric bicycle valued at approximately $800. The theft occurred outside a business on Manning Road in Tecumseh on the evening of February 10, 2026, between 8:20 and 8:30 p.m.

Police have obtained surveillance footage capturing images of the individual involved in the e-bike theft and are working to identify this suspect. The stolen e-bike represents a significant financial loss for its owner and highlights ongoing property crime concerns in the area.

Public Assistance Crucial for Both Investigations

The OPP is urging anyone with information about either incident to come forward. This includes:

  • Witnesses to the hit-and-run collision on the E.C. Row Expressway off-ramp
  • Individuals who know someone who may have witnessed the collision
  • Anyone with information about the e-bike theft on Manning Road
  • People who might recognize the suspect from surveillance images

Police have provided multiple channels for submitting information:

  2. Submit information online through the official OPP reporting portal at opp.ca/reporting
  3. Provide anonymous tips to Windsor & Essex County Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-8477
