York Regional Police have announced charges against a man in connection with disturbing sexual offences that allegedly occurred at a public library in Newmarket. The incident, which took place on March 1, has led to a multi-count indictment and a public appeal for information.

Details of the Newmarket Library Incident

According to police reports, on March 2, authorities were notified of an event that transpired the previous day around 3:30 p.m. at a Newmarket library. An adult male was allegedly observed holding a cellular phone while exposing himself and committing an indecent act in the public facility.

Investigators swiftly identified a suspect and executed a search warrant at a residence in Newmarket on Wednesday, March 11. As a result, Ryan Toms, 37, of Newmarket, has been charged with four offences: committing an indecent act in a public place, exposing genitals to a person under 16 years of age for a sexual purpose, voyeurism, and breach of probation.

Aurora Theft Case Involving Woman Posing as Nanny and Cleaner

In a separate investigation, York Regional Police have charged a woman in connection with multiple thefts in Aurora. The case involves allegations of theft while the suspect was employed in domestic roles.

On February 22, officers responded to a theft report from a residence where the victims claimed they had hired a nanny in 2025. During her employment, several pieces of jewelry and a significant amount of Canadian currency went missing.

Subsequently, on March 6-7, two additional victims reported similar thefts from their home, where the suspect had been hired through a social media platform to clean their house. Items stolen included jewelry and Canadian currency.

Jessie Goulet, 36, of Whitchurch-Stouffville, was arrested on Tuesday and charged with three counts each of theft over $5,000 and possession of property over $5,000. Police have released images of the accused out of concern for other possible victims. Attempted Jewelry Store Robbery in Vaughan

York Regional Police are also seeking witnesses following an attempted commercial robbery in Vaughan. On March 6, around 2:20 p.m., officers responded to the area of Chrislea Road and Jevlan Drive after reports of four suspicious males in ski masks attempting to enter a jewelry store.

The suspects were unable to gain entry and fled in an awaiting white Nissan Kicks, driven by a fifth suspect. No robbery occurred, and no injuries were reported. All five suspects are described as males wearing dark clothing.
