York Regional Police have arrested and charged a 31-year-old man in connection with an alleged sexual assault on a public transit bus in Richmond Hill last month. Authorities are now concerned the suspect may have targeted other victims and have released his image to the public.
Details of the Alleged Assault
According to police, the incident occurred on the evening of November 18, 2025. A female passenger reported she was travelling on a northbound bus from Toronto's Finch Station to the Richmond Hill terminal when a man sat beside her. Between 6 and 7 p.m., the man allegedly touched her in a sexual manner without her consent.
The victim immediately stood up and confronted the man. She then reported the incident to the bus driver. Police state the suspect fled the bus at that point. Investigators believe the man then travelled to Brampton, where he may have attempted to target other individuals.
Suspect Arrested and Charged
Following an investigation, police identified a suspect and arrested him on Thursday, December 18, 2025. The accused is Saman Salimianrizi, 31, who is listed as having no fixed address.
Salimianrizi faces one count of sexual assault. He has also been charged with two counts of breach of probation. Shockingly, police confirmed that at the time of his arrest for the November incident, Salimianrizi was already on probation for similar offences that occurred in both York Region and Toronto.
History of Similar Allegations and Public Appeal
This is not the first time Salimianrizi has been charged in connection with an assault on transit. He was also charged in April 2025 following another alleged sexual assault on a bus in Richmond Hill.
Due to the concerning pattern, investigators have released an image of Salimianrizi. They are urging anyone with information about this investigation or who may have been a victim of a similar incident in York or Peel Regions to come forward.
