York Regional Police have announced the arrest of two individuals in connection with a disturbing human trafficking case that led to the rescue of three underage girls from Quebec. The investigation, which unfolded last week, resulted in charges against a 23-year-old Toronto man and a 17-year-old boy from Burlington.

According to authorities, Counter Exploitation investigators received crucial information on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, indicating that three missing female youths from Quebec might be located within York Region. Constable Kevin Nebrija stated in an official release that there were immediate concerns about the potential sexual exploitation of the victims.
"Within hours, investigators identified and attended a residence in Richmond Hill where the girls were believed to be," Nebrija explained. The police response was rapid and decisive, leading to the safe recovery of all three girls.

The operation took a critical turn when officers observed two female youths leaving the Richmond Hill residence with an adult male in a vehicle. Police promptly stopped the vehicle and took the male into custody. Concerned for the safety of a third potential victim, investigators entered the residence under exigent circumstances, where they located the third girl unharmed and apprehended a teenage boy.
The suspects have been identified as Shaikh Sabahat, 23, of Toronto, and a 17-year-old boy from Burlington, whose identity is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. Both face serious charges, including:
