Four Men Charged with Impaired Driving in Essex County by OPP
The Ontario Provincial Police have arrested and charged four drivers with impaired driving following separate incidents across Essex County over a weekend period. The charges stem from a series of traffic complaints and collisions that occurred between February 19 and February 20, 2026.
First Incident: Early Morning Traffic Complaint
Officers investigating a traffic complaint on Tracey Crescent in Essex just after 1 a.m. on Saturday, February 20, arrested a 19-year-old Essex man. He faces two impaired driving charges related to this incident.
Second Incident: Vehicle Stop in Leamington
Around the same time, officers conducted a vehicle stop in Leamington on Talbot Street West near Chestnut Street. A 26-year-old Leamington man was charged with impaired driving, operation of a motor vehicle without insurance, and being a novice driver with a blood alcohol level above zero.
Third Incident: Single Vehicle Collision in Kingsville
Later that evening, police responded to a single motor vehicle collision on County Road 34 in Kingsville. The incident occurred around 9 p.m., with no injuries reported. A 19-year-old Essex man was charged with impaired driving and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
Fourth Incident: Previous Week Collision
The fourth incident occurred on February 19, just before 8:30 p.m., when officers investigated a motor vehicle collision on County Road 50 East in Essex. A 32-year-old Kingsville man was arrested and charged with impaired driving and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
Legal Consequences and Court Appearances
All four drivers are required to appear in court to answer to the charges. Each received a 90-day driver's licence suspension and had their vehicle impounded for seven days as immediate consequences of their arrests.

The Ontario Provincial Police remind the public that urgent traffic complaints or suspicions that someone is driving while their ability to operate a motor vehicle is impaired by drugs or alcohol should be reported to police by calling 911 immediately.
