The Federal Bureau of Investigation has released new surveillance photographs depicting a masked and armed individual at the residence of Nancy Guthrie, the mother of "Today" show host Savannah Guthrie. This development comes amid an intensive, ongoing search for the 84-year-old woman, who was reported missing from her home outside Tucson more than a week ago.
New Evidence in a Disturbing Case
Authorities have stated that Nancy Guthrie was taken against her will sometime between the night of Saturday, January 31, and the morning of Sunday, February 1. Investigators discovered blood on her front porch, which has been confirmed through DNA analysis to belong to Guthrie. The case has drawn significant public attention due to the high-profile nature of her daughter's career.
Surveillance Images Reveal Masked Intruder
The images, released by the FBI on Tuesday, show an individual wearing a ski mask, gloves, and carrying a backpack. FBI Director Kash Patel attributed these photographs to a surveillance camera that was mounted on Guthrie's front door. In an online post, Director Patel explained the origin of this critical evidence.
"Working with our partners - as of this morning, law enforcement has uncovered these previously inaccessible new images showing an armed individual appearing to have tampered with the camera at Nancy Guthrie’s front door the morning of her disappearance," he stated.
The FBI and the Pima County Sheriff's Department have been collaborating closely with private sector partners over the last eight days to recover any lost or corrupted images or video footage from the Guthrie residence.
Investigation Faces Challenges
Despite this new evidence, investigators have not yet identified any suspects, persons of interest, or vehicles connected to Nancy Guthrie's disappearance. The case remains a top priority for law enforcement agencies involved.
Family's Desperate Plea for Assistance
Savannah Guthrie issued another heartfelt public plea for help on Monday. In a video posted to her Instagram page, the "Today" show host expressed the family's anguish and urgency.
"We are at an hour of desperation, and we need your help," she stated, underscoring the critical nature of the search for her mother.
The Pima County Sheriff's Department has circulated a missing person alert for Nancy Guthrie, seeking information from the public. This remains a developing story, and authorities are urging anyone with relevant information to come forward as the investigation continues.
