Trump Announces TrumpRX Website to Reduce Prescription Drug Costs
In a significant move aimed at addressing healthcare affordability, former U.S. President Donald Trump has unveiled the TrumpRX website, a new platform designed to help Americans without health insurance purchase prescription medications at discounted rates. The announcement was made during a White House event on Thursday, February 5, 2026, where Trump emphasized the potential for substantial savings for consumers.
How TrumpRX Works to Lower Medication Prices
The TrumpRX website lists numerous common medications, including fertility and weight loss drugs, and provides price comparisons between U.S. and Canadian markets. For instance, the Gonal-F fertility injection is listed at US$1,449 in the U.S., compared to US$355 in Canada. Trump attributed the discounts to his administration's threats of pharmaceutical tariffs and negotiations with drug manufacturers that agreed to Most Favored Nation pricing.
"This is a very big deal," Trump stated. "People are going to save a lot of money and be healthy." He criticized previous political efforts, saying, "For years, politicians from both parties have promised to bring down prescription drug prices and make health care more affordable. But they all failed."
Coupon-Based System with Limitations
However, the website does not directly sell prescription drugs. Instead, users who sign up receive coupons that can be redeemed at pharmacies or manufacturer websites, with some exceptions for specialty drugs. The platform also links to medications on company websites. Importantly, individuals enrolled in government, state, or federally-funded medical or prescription insurance coverage are not eligible for these coupons.
"At this time, TrumpRx discounted pricing is only available for cash-paying patients," explains the website's FAQ. Currently, 43 medications are available on the site, with promises of more to be added in the future.
