Dr. Oz Struggles to Explain Trump's Four Medical Checkups Since Taking Office
Oz Fails to Justify Trump's Four Medical Checkups

Asked Tuesday why President Donald Trump has undergone four medical checkups since returning to office, Dr. Mehmet Oz repeatedly and unconvincingly asserted that Trump is in perfect health and probably just enjoys seeing reports affirming that fact.

Oz's Response to Reporter's Question

“I have talked to the president about what he’s sent to all of you and I think it’s just a routine, regular exam,” Oz told a reporter at the top of the briefing who had asked why Trump has had four times the number of “regular” checkups recently than is considered normal.

A second reporter followed up after Oz’s dodge: “If the president’s in such perfect health, why does he keep going back in for checkups?”

“I think he likes the results,” claimed Oz, a former TV personality who now oversees the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. “He does really well, uh — he aces the test every single day. And I do actually believe that he’s curious to make sure everything is going in the right direction.”

Earlier Claims and Missing Records

Earlier in the briefing, Oz said Trump appeared on his television show 10 years ago and shared “spectacular” health records at the time, implying that they must still be great. However, Trump refused to release detailed medical records during the 2024 presidential campaign.

With White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt on maternity leave, other Trump administration officials have been filling in to deliver press briefings. After appearances by Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Tuesday’s briefing was delivered by Oz, the king of crudité.
