President Donald Trump on Monday claimed that his Great American State Fair in Washington, D.C. was “packed with happy people,” even as Fox News broadcast from a mostly empty field, describing a “wash of people” and “thousands.”
MSNBC Host Exposes Crowd Discrepancy
MSNBC host Jacob Soboroff called out the network’s spin, saying, “That is so sad,” while showing footage of Fox News’ coverage. He highlighted a photo posted by an event organizer featuring a singer on stage with a guitarist in sunglasses. “If you zoom in, let’s do it, on the guitarist’s sunglasses you can see a crowd of less than a dozen people in the reflection,” Soboroff said as the camera zoomed in. The image was later deleted and replaced with one where the sunglasses were cropped out, according to Soboroff.
Reflecting Pool Problems Persist
Soboroff also investigated the Reflecting Pool, which Trump spent over $14 million in taxpayer funds to renovate. The new bottom began peeling, and an algae bloom turned the water green. Trump blamed vandals and insisted over the weekend that “the criminally made algae is gone.” However, Soboroff visited the pool and found it “remains a very, very, very algae green.”
