Sarnia police have announced the arrest of a suspect in the murder of a Lambton College student. Kyaw 'Chin' Doe, 24, was taken into custody without incident on Monday, according to a press release from the Sarnia Police Service.
Arrest Details
Police had issued a warrant for Doe's arrest earlier this month in connection with the death of a 20-year-old student whose body was found in an off-campus residence near the college. The victim's identity has not been released pending notification of family.
'We got him,' said Sarnia Police Chief Derek Davis in a statement. 'This arrest is the result of excellent teamwork between our investigators and multiple partner agencies.'
Investigation Timeline
The investigation began on March 15, 2026, when police were called to a residence on London Road for a welfare check. Officers discovered the victim deceased from apparent stab wounds. An autopsy later confirmed the cause of death as homicide.
Doe, a former student at Lambton College, was identified as a person of interest within days. He had been missing since the discovery of the body. The suspect was located in a rural area outside Sarnia following a tip from the public.
Community Reaction
The arrest has brought some relief to the college community. 'This has been a difficult time for our students and staff,' said Lambton College President Dr. Judith Morris. 'We are grateful to the police for their diligent work.'
Doe is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday to face charges of second-degree murder. Police have not disclosed a possible motive but say the incident appears to be isolated.
