Stabbing at Scarborough Plaza Leaves One Injured

A male suspect is at-large after a man in his 30s was stabbed near Al Baaqi Supermarket at 678 Kennedy Rd. in Scarborough on June 21. Toronto police responded to the incident at approximately 8:30 p.m. after receiving reports of an assault.

The victim was found with stab wounds and was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Police have not released a description of the suspect but are urging anyone with information to come forward.

Police Investigation Underway

Toronto police are actively investigating the stabbing and have cordoned off the area around the plaza. Detectives are reviewing surveillance footage and speaking with witnesses to identify the suspect.

“We are asking anyone who was in the area at the time or who may have dashcam footage to contact us,” said Toronto police spokesperson Constable David Hopkinson. “The suspect is considered dangerous, and we urge the public not to approach him.”

Community Concerns

The stabbing has raised concerns among local residents and business owners about safety in the area. Al Baaqi Supermarket, a popular grocery store in the plaza, was closed temporarily as police conducted their investigation.

“This is usually a quiet neighborhood, and it’s shocking to see something like this happen,” said local resident Maria Santos. “I hope the police catch the person quickly.”
