Halifax Regional Police are investigating a fatal shooting that left a 39-year-old man dead in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia on Friday night.
Details of the Incident
Police responded to reports of gunfire on Lahey Road in Dartmouth around 11:30 p.m. on June 26, 2026. Officers arrived to find the victim suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim's identity has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.
Investigation Underway
Homicide investigators are leading the probe. Police have cordoned off the area and are canvassing for witnesses and surveillance footage. No arrests have been made, and the motive remains unclear. Anyone with information is urged to contact Halifax Regional Police or Crime Stoppers.
This is the city's third homicide of 2026. In 2025, Halifax recorded 12 homicides. Police have not disclosed whether this incident is believed to be gang-related.
