Daniel Niemiec, 20, faces charges of domestic violence strangulation and two counts of domestic violence battery after a series of alleged attacks on his ex-girlfriend in Coral Springs, Florida, beginning in June.
Alleged Assaults Escalate from Slapping to Strangulation
According to an affidavit obtained by Law & Crime, the woman told police that on June 2, she had consensual sex with Niemiec at his apartment. During the encounter, she claimed Niemiec repeatedly slapped her face despite her pleas to stop. She said the slapping continued even after she begged him to cease.
On June 30, the woman reported that she was arguing with Niemiec when he strangled her, leaving her struggling to breathe after releasing her. She alleged he laughed during the attack. The woman ended the relationship following this incident.
Backpack Filled with Excrement and Condiments
The unnamed woman told police she stayed with a friend in Margate, Florida, after the strangulation. When she returned the next day to retrieve her belongings, Niemiec allegedly met her in the parking lot holding her backpack. According to court documents cited by PEOPLE, Niemiec had urinated and defecated in the backpack, also filling it with ketchup, hot sauce, “and other unknown fluids.” He then allegedly dumped the contents onto the woman.
While recounting the incident to police, the woman was shaking uncontrollably, Law & Crime reported.
Suspect Admits to ‘Payback for Cheating’
Upon arrest, Niemiec allegedly admitted to slapping his ex-girlfriend during sex, stating he was “testing something new” and that things had “gotten out of hand,” according to the Miami Herald. He also confessed to strangling her, attributing it to “anger issues and sometimes can’t control it.”
Niemiec admitted to filling the backpack with urine and feces as “payback for her cheating,” the affidavit noted. He told police he thought he had just thrown the backpack but “could not recall where the items landed,” per the Herald.
Legal Consequences and Bond Conditions
Niemiec posted a US$4,000 bond and is subject to electronic monitoring. He also has a no-contact order with his ex-girlfriend. It is unknown whether he has entered a plea or retained an attorney.
