A powerful explosion in a moving vehicle near the historic Red Fort in New Delhi has claimed at least eight lives and left several others injured, sending shockwaves through the Indian capital. Investigation Launched Amid National Security Response
Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golcha confirmed to reporters that the blast originated from a car and that the cause is under active investigation. While he initially stated "a few" fatalities, the Press Trust of India later reported the death toll had reached eight, citing unnamed authorities.
Indian Home Minister Amit Shah addressed the nation in a televised statement, emphasizing that "orders have been given to examine all nearby CCTV cameras" and assuring citizens that authorities are "exploring all possibilities and will conduct a thorough investigation."

Television footage from the scene depicted a scene of chaos and destruction, with people running around mangled and charred vehicles as small fires burned and broken glass covered the ground. According to Delhi fire service official Rajinder Atwal, approximately 8-10 vehicles caught fire, requiring seven fire engines to respond to the incident.
In response to the attack, Indian authorities have issued high security alerts in Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh, and implemented enhanced security measures at airports across the country.
