CTV Edmonton's annual Toy Mountain campaign has concluded for 2025, successfully gathering a mountain of holiday cheer for local children in need. The initiative wrapped up on Friday, December 19, with volunteers counting and sorting the final donations at the Trail Appliances store in south Edmonton.
A Community Effort Brings Joy
The 2025 drive proved to be another remarkable success, with the community's generosity resulting in the collection of more than 2,000 toys. This impressive haul ensures that hundreds of children across the Edmonton area will experience the joy of receiving a gift during the holiday season.
Throughout the campaign period, Edmontonians dropped off new, unwrapped toys at various collection points across the city. The final sorting hub was a hive of activity on the last day, as dedicated volunteers prepared every doll, game, and stuffed animal for its next journey.
Destination: Boys and Girls Club Big Brothers Big Sisters
All toys collected through the Toy Mountain campaign have a clear and impactful destination. They will be distributed to the Boys and Girls Club Big Brothers Big Sisters (BGCBigs) Edmonton & Area chapter.
This organization plays a vital role in supporting young people through mentoring and community programs. The donated toys will be given to children and youth in their programs, many of whom face significant economic challenges. For these kids, a gift from Toy Mountain can be a bright spot in their holiday and a tangible sign that their community cares.
Volunteers Make It Possible
The success of the campaign hinges not just on donors, but on the teams of volunteers who give their time. On December 19, these helpers meticulously counted, sorted, and boxed the thousands of donations, transforming a large collection into organized, deliverable packages.
Their work ensures that the process is efficient and that the toys can quickly reach the agencies that will put them directly into the hands of children. This final volunteer push is the crucial last step in the Toy Mountain promise.
CTV Edmonton's Toy Mountain is a longstanding holiday tradition in the city, demonstrating the power of local media to mobilize community support for a critical cause. The 2025 total of over 2,000 toys continues a legacy of generosity, ensuring the holiday spirit reaches every corner of Edmonton.
