Salvation Army Windsor Kettle Campaign Aims for $250K

The Salvation Army in Windsor has officially launched its 2025 Christmas Kettle Campaign, setting an ambitious fundraising target of $250,000 to support its vital community services throughout the coming year.

Campaign Kick-off with Festive Spirit

A flag-raising ceremony at the South Windsor Citadel on Monday, November 24, 2025, marked the official beginning of the holiday fundraising drive. The event featured musical performances by the Salvation Army brass band, creating a festive atmosphere for what organizers hope will be another successful campaign.

Jason Linton, executive director of the Salvation Army Windsor Centre of Hope, expressed confidence in the community's generosity. "Christmas time is a giving time, and I think people are very much in the spirit of giving," Linton said about this year's fundraising goal.

Building on Previous Success

The organization is hoping to match or exceed last year's impressive results. During the 2024 Christmas campaign, the Salvation Army had set a goal of $240,000 for Windsor and Essex but ultimately raised over $257,000 thanks to community support.

This year's campaign comes at a critical time, as Linton emphasized that many residents continue to face significant financial challenges. "Affordability is a major issue. We see it every day in our food bank," he noted, pointing to the ongoing economic pressures affecting local families.

Addressing Growing Community Needs

The funds raised through the kettle campaign support essential services including:

  • Food bank operations
  • Emergency shelter services
  • Housing assistance programs
  • Community meals
  • Year-round aid for vulnerable residents

Linton reported that rising costs of groceries and housing in recent years have led to a "large" increase in the use of the Salvation Army's food bank and shelter services. While he noted that this year isn't necessarily worse than last year, the overall trend shows significant growth in demand compared to four or five years ago.

The Christmas Kettle Campaign runs from November 24 to December 24, 2025, representing the organization's largest fundraiser of the year. As Linton explained, "The winter months really affect our clientele from a sheltered perspective. It's very hard for people who are outside in the cold weather."

The Salvation Army remains committed to its mission of providing shelter, nutritious meals, and support to those in need throughout the holiday season and beyond.
