LifeLabs Donates $10,000 to Combat Gender-Based Violence in Guelph
LifeLabs donates $10k to Women in Crisis in Guelph

In a significant move to support survivors and help eliminate gender-based violence, LifeLabs, Canada's leading medical diagnostics provider, has announced a $10,000 donation to Guelph-Wellington Women in Crisis. The contribution was made public on November 25, 2025, to honour the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and Girls.

A Commitment to a Safer Future

This donation underscores LifeLabs' commitment to building a world free from gender-based violence. The chosen date highlights the urgent, global nature of this human rights issue. Tragically, violence against women, gender-diverse people, and girls remains one of the most pervasive violations worldwide.

Statistics reveal the grim reality: nearly one in three women globally has been subjected to physical assault at least once. In Canada, incidents of intimate partner violence reported to police rose by 19 per cent between 2014 and 2022. The situation in Ontario is particularly alarming, with a horrifying 62 individuals lost to femicide in 2024 alone.

Addressing a Growing Crisis: Digital Violence

The 2025 observance of the international day focuses on a rapidly increasing form of abuse: ending digital violence against women and girls. This modern threat amplifies the need for robust support services for survivors.

"On this International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, LifeLabs joins the call to end gender-based violence," said Charles Brown, CEO and President of LifeLabs. "We are inspired by the work being done by Women in Crisis and are proud to support their mission."

Strengthening Local Communities Through Partnership

The financial support from LifeLabs will directly enhance the vital, often life-saving services provided by Guelph-Wellington Women in Crisis. The organization offers safety, support, information, and advocacy to women, gender-diverse people, and their children.

"We are deeply grateful to LifeLabs for their generous support," said Sly Castaldi, Executive Director of Guelph-Wellington Women in Crisis. "When corporations invest in local organizations, they help build stronger, healthier communities... This gift is an investment that will help ensure vital services remain accessible to those who need them most."

LifeLabs concluded its announcement by expressing gratitude to survivors and all those working to build care and connection in their communities, stating, "We are honoured to walk alongside you."
