Monty arrived at the shelter more than fifteen months ago, described by staff as "playful and goofy" with a personality that made him a favorite among volunteers. The breakthrough came during a specially organized weekend on March 14-15, when the shelter created focused opportunities for potential adopters to meet Monty. This targeted approach proved successful when Dave visited the shelter and formed an immediate connection with the eager hound.

A video shared by the shelter captures the poignant farewell as Monty walks through the shelter hallway one final time. Staff members line both sides of the corridor, applauding as the excited dog makes his way toward freedom. Katherine Wilson, marketing and communications manager for HSOMH, provided details about the adoption process. "Dave came in to meet Monty and Monty just loved Dave," Wilson explained. "Then Dave came back later in the day with his wife and it went really well. We are all thrilled over here."
The new owner has embraced Monty's growing online following by creating social media accounts specifically for his adopted companion. Both "Monty's Next Chapter" on Reddit and Instagram will allow the many people invested in Monty's story to follow his new adventures with Dave and his family.
