$750K Fire Ravages Windsor Home on Victoria Avenue
Windsor house fire causes $750K in damages

A fierce fire tore through a single-family home in Windsor on Wednesday evening, resulting in an estimated $750,000 in damages to the structure and its contents.

Firefighters Battle Intense Blaze

The Windsor Fire and Rescue Services responded to the 1300 block of Victoria Avenue around 6:20 p.m. on November 20, 2025. Upon arrival, crews were met with thick smoke pouring from the building. Firefighters immediately entered the home, proceeding to the basement to attack the fire and conduct a primary search for any occupants.

Chief fire prevention officer John Smith provided updates via social media, reporting zero visibility on both the first floor and in the basement due to the intense conditions.

Defensive Strategy Employed

After confirming that all firefighters had safely exited the building following the initial search, the incident command made the critical decision to switch to a defensive strategy. "Fire reported to be spreading rapidly, command changing to defensive strategy," Smith tweeted.

A total of 32 firefighters worked to control the inferno, applying water from the exterior of the home for approximately two hours. Once the fire was sufficiently contained, crews were able to transition back to an offensive approach, re-entering the house to perform overhaul operations.

No Injuries Reported, Cause Under Investigation

Miraculously, no injuries were reported in connection with the significant fire. The home, situated between Ellis and Montrose streets, appeared to be under renovation at the time of the incident.

As of late Wednesday night, fire investigators were on the scene, working to determine the origin and cause of the devastating blaze. In a coincidental turn of events, other Windsor fire and rescue units were simultaneously responding to a separate, smaller residential fire a few blocks away at the corner of Ellis Street East and Duffering Place. That incident was determined to be caused by careless cooking and resulted only in light smoke.
