58th Annual World of Wheels Car Show Ignites Calgary with Automotive Excitement
If anything can melt Calgary's unexpected snow, it might just be the roaring heat from hundreds of engines at the 58th edition of the Auto Value Auto Parts World of Wheels event. This weekend, the BMO Centre in Calgary transforms into a paradise for automotive enthusiasts, showcasing a diverse array of vehicles that promise to captivate visitors of all ages.
A Showcase of Rare and Custom Vehicles
Gearheads and families alike will have the opportunity to encounter hundreds of classic, custom, and muscle cars up close. From polished hot rods to meticulously restored classics, the event offers a unique chance to see vehicles that are rarely spotted in person. Attendees can take photos, engage with the builders, and immerse themselves in the vibrant automotive culture.
Shelley Ostrove, the promoter for World of Wheels, emphasizes the event's dynamic nature. "Each year brings new cars, vendors, and booths, making every edition distinct," she notes. "With 58 years of growth, you won't be able to see everything in just an hour—plan for at least two to fully appreciate the offerings."
Evolving Demographics and Special Appearances
Ostrove highlights a significant shift in attendee demographics, with female participation on the rise. "It used to be 75 percent male and 25 percent female, but now it's closer to 60 percent to 40 percent," she explains. "We're also seeing more women involved as part of our team and exhibitors showcasing their cars."
The event will feature special appearances from notable automotive personalities. The Rust Brothers, famous from their History Channel show Rust Valley Restorers, will be present for all three days. Additionally, Farmtruck and AZN, known from Discovery Channel's Street Outlaws, will join the festivities throughout the weekend, adding to the excitement with their underground racing expertise.
Competitions and Exhibits
World of Wheels is a key stop on the Summit Racing Equipment Show Car Series and the International Show Car Association's custom competition, produced by Championship Autoshows Inc. This event is part of a series that includes up to 35 sanctioned auto shows and racing events, such as Autorama and Cavalcade of Custom.
With over 70 automotive booths, fans can meet the "mad scientists" behind these custom creations, gaining insights into the craftsmanship and innovation driving the automotive world. The event runs from Friday through Sunday, offering ample time for exploration and engagement.
As Calgary embraces its role as a hub for oil and gas, this annual car show underscores the city's passion for automotive excellence, bringing together communities to celebrate a shared love for wheels and engines.
