An American driver who caused a disturbance on the Ambassador Bridge, connecting Windsor and Detroit, was arrested for impaired driving last weekend, according to Windsor police. The incident was one of three impaired driving arrests made within a four-hour period, highlighting ongoing concerns about drunk driving in the region.

Chaotic Scene on the Bridge

Shortly after 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 21, Windsor police responded to reports of an American motorist on the Ambassador Bridge who was yelling, honking, and attempting to make a U-turn back toward the United States. Officers located the vehicle and arrested the male driver after detecting an odour of alcohol and other signs of impairment. The 34-year-old man was transported to police headquarters, where he failed a breath test.

He has been charged with impaired operation and operating a vehicle with a blood alcohol content over the legal limit. The Ambassador Bridge, a key international crossing, was lit up for the night during the incident, as seen in recent photos from the Windsor shoreline.
