The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid charges against a driver following a reckless high-speed incident on a major Northern Ontario highway. The driver, whose licence was already suspended, was allegedly clocked travelling at 159 kilometres per hour on Highway 17 with four young children in the vehicle.
A Dangerous Highway Stop
According to the OPP, the traffic stop occurred on Highway 17, a critical Trans-Canada Highway route known for its challenging conditions, especially as winter sets in. Police officers detected the vehicle travelling at an excessively dangerous speed, more than double the posted limit in some sections. Upon pulling the driver over, they made the alarming discovery that the individual was operating the vehicle with a suspended licence and that four child passengers were on board.

The driver now faces serious charges under the Highway Traffic Act. The specific allegations include driving while under suspension and stunt driving due to the extreme speed.
