Stellantis Kicks Off 2026 with Robust Sales Performance Led by Windsor-Built Minivan
Stellantis has announced a strong start to 2026, with the Windsor-built Chrysler Pacifica minivan playing a pivotal role in driving the automaker's sales growth in Canada. The positive momentum coincides with the unveiling of the refreshed 2027 Chrysler Pacifica model at the New York International Auto Show on Wednesday, April 1, 2026.
Impressive First-Quarter Sales Figures
Between January and March 2026, Stellantis reported sales of 30,278 vehicles in Canada, marking a 15 per cent increase compared to the same period last year. This growth has boosted the global automaker's domestic market share to 7.6 per cent, reflecting a solid upward trajectory in the competitive automotive landscape.
"Stellantis in Canada is off to a strong start in 2026, and our first-quarter results reflect the strength of our product lineup, and the trust Canadians continue to place in our brands," stated Trevor Longley, President of Stellantis Canada, in a recent news release. "With sustained market share growth and solid performance across our product portfolio, our momentum continues to move upward."
Chrysler Pacifica: The Sales Leader
A significant portion of this sales surge can be attributed to the Chrysler Pacifica, which is assembled at the Windsor Assembly Plant. According to Stellantis, sales of the minivan soared by 256 per cent in the first quarter, reaching 4,008 units compared to 1,126 sold domestically a year earlier. This performance solidifies the Chrysler Pacifica's position as Canada's top-selling minivan, underscoring its enduring popularity among consumers.
Unveiling the Refreshed 2027 Model
The newly unveiled 2027 Chrysler Pacifica introduces several updates designed to enhance its appeal. Key features include:
- A new illuminated wing badge
- Updated front styling for a more modern look
- Nature-inspired paint colours that reflect contemporary trends
"Chrysler invented the minivan 43 years ago, and with more than 16.6 million sold, including more than 1.15 million Pacifica models, our leadership in this segment remains unmatched," said Matt McAlear, Chrysler brand CEO. He added that the refreshed model opens "new opportunities for growth" as the automaker steps into the "next era of the Chrysler brand."
Broader Portfolio Gains
Other vehicles under the Stellantis umbrella also contributed to the company's positive first-quarter results:
- The Windsor-built Dodge Charger experienced a 27 per cent sales increase following the rollout of its latest models.
- Jeep and Ram products recorded year-over-year increases, demonstrating strong brand performance.
- The Fiat 500e, marketed as an "affordable" electric vehicle, saw a 72 per cent gain, highlighting growing consumer interest in eco-friendly options.
This comprehensive sales growth across multiple brands underscores Stellantis's robust market presence and strategic product offerings in Canada.
