Land Rover is recalling certain 2023 model year Velar, Discovery, and Evoque sports utility vehicles in Canada and the United States due to an airbag defect that could prevent deployment in a crash.
Scope of the Recall
The recall affects unsold 2023 Velar, Discovery, and Evoque SUVs. According to Transport Canada, the issue involves a potential problem with the airbag inflator that may cause the airbag not to deploy as intended, increasing the risk of injury to occupants.
Land Rover notified dealers in late June 2026. The exact number of vehicles affected in Canada has not been disclosed, but the recall is part of a broader North American action.
Cause and Remedy
The defect stems from a manufacturing error in the airbag inflator module. Land Rover will replace the affected airbag modules free of charge. Owners are advised to contact their local dealer for an appointment.
“Safety is our top priority, and we are committed to addressing this issue promptly,” a Land Rover spokesperson said.
Impact on Owners
Owners of affected vehicles should stop driving them immediately and contact their dealer for a loaner vehicle if needed. Land Rover is also mailing recall notices to registered owners.
