Lactantia has unveiled the Ultimate Butter Churning Vest, a first-of-its-kind product designed for Canadians who want to participate in the viral runner butter trend. Inspired by social media users churning butter during their runs, the brand has turned this DIY trend into a functional vest that allows runners to create fresh butter with every stride.
How the Vest Works
The vest features a front chest pocket with a BPA-free, food-grade container that uses a spill-proof design and a kinetic ball to accelerate the churning process. Thermal insulation and active cooling ensure food safety. Once the butter is ready, the vest includes dedicated pockets for a butter knife and a slice of bread, enabling runners to sample their creation on the go.
From Social Media to Reality
The runner butter trend began when runners discovered that the agitation from running could churn cream into butter in sandwich bags stored in backpacks. However, this method was often messy and inconvenient. Lactantia's vest eliminates these issues with a streamlined, spill-proof design.
“We’ve seen Canadians on social media using our 35% cream to try this experiment and wanted to find a fun way to say thank you to them,” said Marion Eizaguirre, Senior Brand Manager at Lactalis Canada (Lactantia). “Creating The Ultimate Butter Churning Vest allowed us to mirror that the precision we took to make the vest is the same level of care and quality that we put into our products.”
Availability and Contests
Lactantia will give away a limited run of vests nationwide while supplies last. Canadians can enter to win at lactantia.ca/churningvestcontest. Additionally, a Butter Run hosted by the 6AM Club will take place in Quebec on Saturday, June 13, where participants can see the vest in action and sample fresh butter post-run. More details will be shared on the 6AM Club’s official Instagram page.
