A nurse has been suspended after working at the Brandon Regional Health Centre in Manitoba without the required professional certification, health officials confirmed.
Details of the Suspension
The suspension was announced on July 8, 2026, following an investigation by the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba. The nurse, whose name has not been released, was found to have been practicing without a valid license or the necessary credentials for the role they held at the hospital.
According to a statement from the health centre, the matter was brought to light during a routine audit of staff credentials. The nurse was immediately removed from patient care duties and placed on administrative leave pending further review.
Impact on Patient Care
Officials stressed that there is no evidence of patient harm resulting from the nurse's employment. However, the incident has raised concerns about credential verification processes. The Brandon Regional Health Centre is cooperating fully with the regulatory body to ensure all staff meet certification standards.
"We take this matter very seriously and have implemented additional checks to prevent such occurrences in the future," said a hospital spokesperson. The College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba is expected to hold a disciplinary hearing in the coming weeks.
