Man Describes Failed Attempt to Save Girlfriend in Alligator Attack

Chance Allison, the boyfriend of 31-year-old Brittany Clark, is speaking out after she was killed by a massive alligator while swimming in the Econlockhatchee River in Seminole County, Florida. In a heartbreaking Facebook post, Allison expressed his disbelief and grief, saying they had many plans together. He also shared photos of Clark and announced plans for a celebration of life gathering.

911 Call Reveals Desperate Attempts to Save Her

Allison tried desperately to free Clark from the gator's jaws. The frantic 911 call captured his pleas: "Bad, real bad, please, hurry … she’s losing a lot of blood … we need to stop the blood." Clark's roommate, Jayden Hernandez, who was also swimming, told dispatchers that one of Clark's arms was completely severed and the other barely attached. Clark died en route to the hospital from multiple blunt force injuries of the upper extremities, according to the medical examiner.

Alligators Captured and Killed

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission reported that a 13-foot alligator was found at the scene and a 12.5-foot alligator half a mile away was captured and killed. Samples were collected for investigation. The FWC stated that Clark did nothing malicious to provoke the attack and was swimming in about three feet of water.

Victim's Father Criticizes Officials

Brittany's father, Robert Clark, blasted wildlife authorities for failing to warn the public about alligator-infested waters. He noted the alligator population is thriving and called for more state action. The FWC responded that serious alligator injuries are rare and that they operate a Nuisance Alligator Program to address threats.

Allison also mentioned that the couple was planning to start a family. A GoFundMe set up by Clark's aunt has raised over $10,000 for funeral costs.
