Edmonton Man Arrested in Fatal Crash Killing 2 in Slave Lake

An Edmonton man has been arrested in connection with a multi-vehicle crash in Slave Lake that left two people dead, according to Alberta RCMP.

Crash Details

The collision occurred on Highway 2 near Slave Lake on Wednesday afternoon. Emergency crews responded to reports of a serious crash involving multiple vehicles. Two individuals were pronounced dead at the scene, while others were transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

RCMP said the driver of one of the vehicles, a 34-year-old Edmonton man, was taken into custody following the crash. He faces charges including dangerous driving causing death and impaired driving causing death. The suspect is scheduled to appear in court in Slave Lake on Thursday.

Ongoing Investigation

Police have not released the names of the deceased, pending notification of next of kin. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are asking anyone with information or dashcam footage to contact Slave Lake RCMP.

“Our thoughts are with the families and loved ones of the victims,” said RCMP Cpl. Troy Savinkoff in a statement. “We are working diligently to determine the circumstances that led to this tragic incident.”

The crash caused significant traffic disruptions on Highway 2 for several hours as crews worked to clear the scene and investigate.
