Cyclist Critically Injured in Macleod Trail Vehicle Collision

A cyclist is in critical condition after colliding with a vehicle on Macleod Trail Thursday afternoon, Calgary police reported.

Collision Details

The crash occurred at approximately 1:30 p.m. at 71 Avenue and Macleod Trail, according to police. The cyclist sustained life-threatening injuries. The driver of the van was uninjured and remained at the scene.

Road Closure

Due to the incident, southbound Macleod Trail was shut down between 69 Avenue and 73 Avenue S.E. while police investigated.

Recent Fatalities

The last vehicle-cyclist fatality in Calgary occurred on June 20, when a man in his 60s died after being struck by an SUV while northbound on Centre Street N. near 20 Avenue. Police believe the driver of that SUV, in his 70s, suffered a medical incident at the time of the crash.
