N.S. Woman Arrested for Impaired Driving After Lewis Lake Crash

A Nova Scotia woman has been arrested following a single-vehicle crash in Lewis Lake on July 2, 2026, with RCMP alleging impaired driving was a factor. The collision occurred in the small community located approximately 30 kilometres west of Halifax.

Details of the Incident

RCMP officers responded to reports of a car crash on Lewis Lake Road at around 1:30 p.m. local time. Upon arrival, they found a vehicle that had left the roadway and struck a tree. The driver, a 34-year-old woman from the Halifax Regional Municipality, was the sole occupant and sustained minor injuries. She was treated at the scene by paramedics.

Police administered a roadside breath test, which allegedly indicated the presence of alcohol above the legal limit. The woman was subsequently arrested and taken to a detachment for further testing. She faces charges of impaired driving and operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration exceeding 0.08.

Impact and Legal Proceedings

The suspect was released on conditions and is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court at a later date. Her name has not been released pending formal charges. RCMP remind the public that impaired driving remains a leading cause of fatal collisions in Nova Scotia, with 22 alcohol-related deaths reported in 2025, according to provincial statistics.

“Impaired driving is completely preventable, and we urge everyone to plan ahead for a safe ride home,” said RCMP Cpl. Chris MacLellan in a statement. “This incident could have been far worse. We are grateful no one was seriously injured.”
