BMO has announced the impactful results of its 2026 BMO Walks for Good campaign, which raised over $2.2 million CAD to support mental health initiatives across North America. The campaign united 14,000 participants, including employees, friends, and community members, through walking, fundraising, volunteering, and awareness efforts.
Supporting Key Mental Health Organizations
The funds raised will benefit two major initiatives: BMO Walk so Kids Can Talk in Canada, supporting Kids Help Phone, and NAMIWalks in the United States, supporting the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI). These organizations provide critical frontline mental health services, including 24/7 counselling, peer support, and education programs.
Employee-Led Impact
BMO employee-led fundraising and volunteer efforts were central to the campaign's success. Helen Seibel, Head of Employee and Community Giving at BMO, emphasized the company's commitment to mental health: "At BMO, we believe mental health is health, and we're dedicated to expanding access to care, reducing stigma, and supporting wellbeing."
Expanding Access to Care
The funds raised through BMO Walk so Kids Can Talk will help Kids Help Phone continue providing professional counselling and text-based support for young people across Canada. Aaron Sanderson, President and CEO of Kids Help Phone Foundation, expressed gratitude: "This year's success reflects the commitment of BMO employees, volunteers, and communities. Together, we are helping more young people access trusted support when they need it most."
In the U.S., support generated through NAMIWalks will expand education programs, peer-led support groups, and advocacy services for individuals and families affected by mental illness.
Measurable Community Impact
The annual BMO Walks for Good campaign drives measurable impact for youth and community mental health programs. By uniting thousands of participants, BMO continues to advance mental health access and reduce stigma across North America.
