Why Waste Management Matters

Edmonton's waste management system is one of the most advanced in Canada, diverting over 60% of waste from landfills through recycling and composting programs. The city aims to achieve 90% diversion by 2030 through initiatives like the Edmonton Waste Management Centre's operations.

Environment Week is a national initiative that encourages Canadians to take action to protect the environment. Edmonton's tours align with this goal by promoting awareness of waste issues and sustainable practices.

How to Register

To book a tour, visit the city's website or call 311. Walk-ins are welcome if space permits, but pre-registration is encouraged to secure a spot.

The Edmonton Waste Management Centre processes approximately 200,000 tonnes of waste annually, making it a key component of the city's environmental strategy. By offering these tours, the city hopes to inspire residents to reduce, reuse, and recycle more effectively.
