A six-year-old boy has died following a three-vehicle collision on Highway 15 south of Smiths Falls, provincial police said Tuesday. The child was travelling in the same vehicle as a 34-year-old man who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Details of the Crash
The head-on collision occurred on May 29 at approximately 5 p.m. near Otter Lake Park, about 90 kilometres southwest of Ottawa. The crash involved two cars and an ambulance that was returning to its base from a call with no patients onboard.
OPP confirmed that the 34-year-old driver from Elizabethtown-Kitley died at the scene. The six-year-old boy was airlifted to CHEO after the collision but later succumbed to his injuries.
Injuries to Others
The driver and passenger of the ambulance were taken to hospital with serious injuries and were released on Saturday. The driver and sole occupant of the third vehicle was transported to hospital with minor injuries.
