Second Tornado Confirmed as Storms Bring EF1 Damage Across London Region
Second Tornado Confirmed in London Region Storms

A second tornado has been confirmed in the London region, bringing EF1 damage as severe storms swept through the area. The tornado, which touched down near Melbourne, caused significant destruction, including uprooted trees and damaged structures. According to David Sills, a researcher with the Northern Tornadoes Project, debris and dirt were lofted as the tornado moved along a short track. Numerous trees were snapped or uprooted, and large branches were torn from others.

Storm Impact and Damage Assessment

The storms, which occurred over the weekend, also brought heavy rain and strong winds, leading to widespread damage across the region. In Oro-Medonte, a boat launch was damaged, and in Grand Bend, a fire ripped through a RONA store, causing extensive destruction. Cleanup efforts are underway as residents assess the damage to their properties. Emergency services have been working to restore power and clear debris from roads.

Other Weather-Related Incidents

In addition to the tornado, the storms caused a rooftop fire possibly sparked by lightning, and a home in Kitchener was left uninhabitable after an early morning fire. The extreme weather has raised concerns about safety and preparedness as the region braces for more potential storms.
