Texas Senate Runoff Divides Couple Over Ken Paxton Candidacy
Texas Senate Runoff Divides Couple Over Ken Paxton

The choice for the Republican candidate for Senate in Tuesday's runoff is dividing some families in Texas, including a pair whom MSNBC's Rosa Flores described as the "cutest couple." Flores asked conservative voter Michael Stefan and his independent wife, Gayla, about the race between Sen. John Cornyn and state Attorney General Ken Paxton.

"Well, it's not a great choice, either one, really, but I think I lean towards Paxton, for sure. He's local," Michael Stefan said. "Cornyn hasn't always been with the Republicans the way I would like, but it was a tough choice. But I did vote for Paxton on the runoff."

Gayla Stefan was much more blunt in her assessment of Paxton, who was impeached by the Texas House of Representatives — but ultimately acquitted — after a series of scandals.

"Crook," she said flatly. "Yeah, that's it. Period. He's just a crook."

The moment was captured on video and shared by Democratic Wins Media on social media, highlighting the division even within conservative families over Paxton's candidacy.
