Flooding Closes Part of Yellowhead Trail in Edmonton
Heavy rainfall in Edmonton has led to the closure of a portion of Yellowhead Trail due to significant flooding, according to city officials. The affected stretch, between 149 Street and 170 Street, was shut down on Monday afternoon as water levels rose rapidly, making the road impassable for vehicles.
Drivers are advised to seek alternative routes, with detours set up via Stony Plain Road and 111 Avenue. City crews are on site working to pump out water and assess damage. No timeline has been given for reopening, but officials urge caution as more rain is forecast.
This closure adds to ongoing weather-related challenges in the region, as a rainfall warning remains in effect for parts of Alberta, with totals expected between 50 and 100 mm in some areas.
