A 51-year-old man from Connecticut died after falling from an upper deck at Madison Square Garden during a concert on Saturday night, according to New York City police.
Incident Details
Officers responded to a 911 call around 9:51 p.m. and found Paul Kueker of Niantic, Connecticut, unconscious and unresponsive with injuries consistent with a fall from an elevated position. Police did not specify the distance of the fall but noted he was in Section 300. Kueker was attending the concert with his wife. He was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. Police stated they do not suspect foul play.
Band's Response
The rock band Goose was performing at the time of the incident. In a statement, the band said it was “reeling” from the tragedy. The following evening, Goose performed a concert in Central Park and announced that all proceeds from that show would be donated to a charitable fund supporting their fans. “We considered whether or not we were going to play and came to the decision that the best thing we can do right now is bring our community together, lean on one another, and offer a space for healing,” the band said. “So let’s be kind to each other tonight and remember our friend.”
