Canadian pop superstar Justin Bieber has been added to the lineup for the first-ever FIFA World Cup Final halftime show, scheduled for July 19 at New York New Jersey Stadium, commonly known as MetLife Stadium. He will co-headline the 11-minute performance alongside Madonna, Shakira and BTS, FIFA announced on Wednesday.
Additional performers and special guests
The halftime spectacle will also feature Nigerian singer Burna Boy, Venezuelan conductor Gustavo Dudamel, and the PS22 Chorus performing with Coldplay. The chorus will consist of 50 to 60 fifth graders from a Staten Island elementary school. FIFA confirmed that characters from Sesame Street and The Muppets will also appear during the show.
Supporting global education
The halftime show is organized in support of the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund. For every ticket sold during the tournament, US$1 is donated to support social projects worldwide. FIFA reported that it has raised more than $50 million so far toward its US$100 million target to expand access to quality education and football opportunities for children.
“The FIFA World Cup brings the world together in a way nothing else can,” Justin Bieber said in a statement. “I’m grateful to be part of this halftime show, and even more grateful knowing it’s already helping expand access to education for children around the world.”
FIFA president and curator comments
FIFA President Gianni Infantino emphasized the importance of education, stating: “When it comes to what the world needs, there is nothing more important than education. We are proud to have Justin Bieber joining Madonna, Shakira and BTS to co-headline the FIFA World Cup 2026 Final Halftime Show in support of the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund and our mission to expand access to quality education and football opportunities for children around the world.”
Coldplay’s Chris Martin, who is curating the mid-game spectacle with Global Citizen, said the show will be “all about togetherness … and everyone’s invited.”
