Ottawa Fire Services rescued one person from a residential fire in the Orléans neighbourhood on Wednesday, July 8, 2026. The fire broke out in a single-family home in the area of St. Joseph Boulevard and Place D'Orléans Drive.

Fire Response and Rescue

Crews arrived at the scene shortly after the alarm was raised, finding heavy smoke and flames emanating from the structure. Firefighters quickly entered the building and located one occupant, who was brought to safety. The individual was assessed by paramedics at the scene for minor smoke inhalation but did not require transport to hospital.

No other occupants were found, and no firefighters were injured during the operation. The fire was brought under control within 30 minutes.

Investigation Underway

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Ontario Fire Marshal's office. Ottawa Fire Services has not released details on the extent of damage to the home, but confirmed that the property is uninhabitable.

According to Ottawa Fire Services spokesperson Mark Young, “The quick response of our crews prevented this fire from spreading to neighbouring homes and ensured the safe rescue of the occupant.”

Community Impact

The incident caused temporary road closures in the area as fire trucks and emergency vehicles operated. Power was briefly cut to nearby homes as a precaution. The Red Cross is assisting the displaced resident with temporary accommodation.
